About a year ago, I purchased an LLLT, Low Level Light Therapy (therapeutic laser), for use in my acupuncture practice. It is made by the RJ Laser Company out of Germany, and is a therapeutic laser particularly suited for an acupuncture practice. It has a built in computer with a wide variety of pre-programmed functions all set up for the new and/or experienced practitioner; for example, settings already programmed into the system for chronic or acute pain, or for treating specific meridians or channels in the body, described and treated in traditional Chinese medicine.
It’s safe, it’s effective and uncomplicated in its use. There are several attachments, so that I can treat a general area of pain, such as a shoulder, or I can treat specific acupuncture points, just as I would with acupuncture needles, except that the laser is non-invasive and totally pain-free.
Now I myself think needling is the best way to go in treating pain, and I am considered a gentle needler (!), but some folks have just a built-in aversion to the idea of needles, no matter how small they are…and acupuncture needles are that, very small and relatively pain-free. But sometimes it’s just the idea, so I offer laser acupuncture as an adjunct therapy, for those who are a bit “needle shy”, or for children and seniors. So we’ve got all the bases covered.
The longer I practice, the more I learn about what acupuncture can treat. It’s really quite amazing and feels so good! Relaxing, healing and balancing.
I’m currently developing a scalp acupuncture protocol to include in my practice. Scalp acupuncture is a relatively new area in traditional Chinese medicine, about thirty years old, but it’s been shown to have very good results in treating neurophysiological complaints such as stroke after effects, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, phantom limb pain…and the list just goes on and on.
I invite you to come and experience pain relief with laser acupuncture and/or scalp acupuncture, or just plain acupuncture. It works!
