At Double Koi Acupuncture, you will find:
| Acupuncture | Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body in order to balance the body's energy ("Qi"). Thousands of years of empirical evidence and, more recently, a wealth of scientific research, has demonstrated its effectiveness for many conditions. The World Health Organization recognizes and supports the use of acupuncture for a long list of conditions. (Click here for list) |
| Herbal Medicine | Over the course of history, the Chinese have established more than 20,000 herbal formulas, of which about 2,000 are in use today. Herbal formulas can be taken as a decoction of raw herbs (cooked and in liquid form), taken in powder or granule form, or in pill form. Herbal formulas taken between visits to the practitioner's clinic can help to amplify and extend an acupuncture treatment. All herbal formulas prescribed at Double Koi Acupuncture originate from Health Canada approved facilities and manufacturers. |
| Manipulative Therapy or Tui Na | Traditional Chinese Medicine includes Chinese massage or tui na, which in some ways is similar to Western massage, and TCM also includes gua sha, moxibustion and cupping (Explained under the Chinese Medicine tab). |
| Food Cures | Diet and lifestyle are hugely important elements of TCM, and discussion and counselling on these topics is typically included in a treatment session. |
| Laser Acupuncture | Light, or laser, therapy was envisioned by Albert Einstein in 1916, the technology accomplished in the 1960s, and low level laser therapy has been used widely since the early 1970s in Europe and China, for many therapeutic applications, one being laser acupuncture. Laser acupuncture, which is expanding in use in North America, is painless and can replace or supplement needle acupuncture, for the elderly, for children and for clients who are needle sensitive. A "needle" of light replaces the usual metal acupuncture needle. |
| Facial Rejuvenation | Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture® is a relatively painless, non-surgical method of reducing the signs of aging. Though Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture can sometimes be referred to as an acupuncture facelift, it is more than a cosmetic procedure. It is a rejuvenation and revitalization process designed to help the whole body look and feel younger. |
